COMMITTEE CHARGE

To increase minority home ownership in Portland, by creating education and credit counseling recommendations that will help people of color become homeowners.

FamilyBecoming a homeowner is a complicated process. What do I need to know? Who should I trust as I shop for my new home? Where do I go to get a loan? How do I know I got the right one for me?  What if my loan is denied?  When is the right time to buy? Having the support needed to answer these questions and more can make the buying process easier.

This committee will work between November 2006 and January 2007 to develop recommendations to be presented to the Steering Committee for vetting and action.

Please view the most current Education and Counseling Plan – the original version, in addition to other related documents submitted to the Steering Committee, can be found in the Steering Committee Materials.

Review the original Education and Credit Counseling framing document, which lays out the committee’s charge and challenges to overcome.
